The House Ethics Committee issued a report showing the New York Republican’s history of lies and financial deception but stopped short of recommending specific punishment. “That almost would have been a dereliction of my duty if I did not support this — if all we did was issue this report and then, you know, the Ethics Committee stays in the background,” the committee chairman told reporters on Dec. 1.
