Key Republican senator reports ‘good discussions’ with Pete Hegseth

Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), a leader in the fight against sexual assault in the military who has been hesitant to support Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for defense secretary, emerged from a meeting with the former Fox News host on Monday saying he should get a chance to make his case at a public confirmation hearing next month.
