A man has been detained and held for questioning by police in Pennsylvania after he was found with a gun similar to that used by Brian Thompson’s killer, according to reports.

He has been identified as 26-year-old Luigi Mangione, according to six law enforcement officials with knowledge of the investigation.

The person of interest has not been charged or arrested in connection to the CEO killing, but he was arrested on local charges in Altoona on Monday, possibly in connection with presenting false identification to authorities, a senior law enforcement officer told The New York Times.

It is too soon to determine if the man is connected to the death of Thompson, who was gunned down on Wednesday morning outside a Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan.

The man, who was spotted by an “elderly patron” in a local McDonald’s, allegedly had a ghost gun, a silencer and false New Jersey ID cards similar those in possession of the killer in NYC along with a “manifesto”, according to TheTimes. It comes the same day as a private funeral for the Thompson is set to be held.

The NYPD is said to have deployed detectives to Altoona as officers widen their search beyond New York City, law enforcement sources told ABC News.

Who is Luigi Mangione?

Luigi Mangione, 26, was born and raised in Maryland, and he lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, until recently, Joseph Kenny, the chief of detectives, told reporters. He also has ties to San Francisco and may have attended college in Pennsylvania.

He has no known criminal record in New York, Kenny added.

Kenny said his name was not on their radar before today.
