Heading into the end of November, portions of the Great Lakes region were in a snowfall deficit measured in feet. A lack of cold air kept snow at bay.

But then the first major Arctic outbreak of the winter rushed south out of Canada as the month closed, and nature’s snow guns fired up, yet to quit. Within less than a week, three to five feet fell in the snowiest spots off steamy lakes.
