The North Charleston Police Department responded early Friday morning to a report of a sexual assault at Trident Medical Center that allegedly occurred between midnight and 6 a.m. Thursday.

Trident Medical Center said Friday it was investigating the claim and is working with local law enforcement.

The victim stated that either his doctor or an unknown suspect dressed as a surgeon sexually assaulted him, according to a police report.

The victim reportedly told police he awoke to the suspect sexually assaulting him, and the suspect was wearing a surgical mask, surgical face shield, and other surgeon scrubs, the report states.

The alleged suspect was male but the victim was unable to identify them further due to the many face coverings and the lack of a visible ID badge, he told police.
