Officials to hold news briefing after body found

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - UPDATE (7:07 p.m.): A news briefing will be held at 8:30 p.m. after a body was found in the Daniel Boone National Forest in the vicinity of Exit 49 off I-75. WYMT will have the news briefing live on WYMT, WYMT.com, WYMT app, and on Facebook Live.

In a post on X KSP Trooper Scottie Pennington announced that ?Kentucky State Police troopers have located a body in the vicinity of Exit 49 in Laurel County and detectives are working to confirm the identity.?
This development comes after an ongoing twelve day manhunt for Joseph Couch after he fired shots at drivers, and seriously injured five people on Sept. 7.
His manhunt led to multiple school districts moving to remote learning as well as the cancellation of multiple high school football games.
