Louisville Fire crews responding to workplace explosion in Clifton neighborhood

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Louisville Fire and Metro EMS are responding to a workplace explosion in the 1900 block of Payne Street. Area roadways around the location are blocked. Officials are asking the public to avoid the area while crews respond.

The explosion was reported around 3 p.m. on Nov. 12 at 1901 Payne Street. That address comes back to a business called Givaudan Sense Colour.

Louisville Metro Emergency Services says a shelter-in-place order has been issued for those in a one-mile radius. Those within a two-block radius are being evacuated.

Louisville Fire says injuries have been confirmed but an exact number has not been confirmed. Two people have been taken out of the building, one of them was rescued.

Businesses on Frankfort Avenue in Clifton have reported damage from this explosion. These are photos sent to us from Quills Coffee and Osaka Japanese restaurant.
