A shooting at Tuskegee University in Alabama during a homecoming celebration on Sunday resulted in the death of an individual and more injuries, the university said.
Footage posted on social media appears to show several gunshots fired and students fleeing from the scene.
Several law enforcement agencies are responding to the incident.
The university told Newsweek: "Tuskegee University confirms that a shooting occurred on campus early Sunday morning, Nov. 10, resulting in the death of a non-university individual.
"The parents of this individual have been notified. Several others including Tuskegee University students were injured and are receiving treatment at East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika and Baptist South Hospital in Montgomery."
The university said, "Emergency responders, along with campus and local law enforcement, have secured the scene. The Alabama Bureau of Investigations is conducting an active investigation."
The statement continued, "The university is in the process of completing student accountability and notifying parents. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available."
According to the university's website, Tuskegee celebrated its 100th homecoming this weekend.
