The York County, Pennsylvania Board of Elections is updating the public on its investigation into thousands of voter registration applications that raised concerns after they were recently delivered to the county's election office.

Last week, the York County Office of Elections and Voter Registration received a bulk drop-off of 3,087 voter registration applications, the board of elections said Wednesday in a news release.

Since then, the elections board has been working with the Pennsylvania Department of State and the York County Office of District Attorney to review the applications.

Of the 3,087 applications, 47% were verified and approved, 29% needed more information, and 24% were declined and are now under review.

The applications in need of more information may be approved pending more information from the applicants, and the bulk of applications that were denied were duplicate registration requests, the elections office said.

Any eligible voter whose application remains under review can still vote in-person on Nov. 5 using a provisional ballot. Those votes won't be counted until questions surrounding the voter registration are resolved.

The update from the York County office comes as officials in Lancaster County deal with similar investigations, announcing Wednesday that county detectives suspect hundreds of voter registration applications there to be fraudulent.

Former President Donald Trump recently to question the potentially fraudulent forms in Lancaster and York counties.

The update from the York County Board of Elections emphasized that the county is following the law:

York County is following the law and our process, as we always have, to ensure that every eligible voter is able to vote and that every legal vote is counted. We want to reassure our community that our process is working, and the integrity, safety, and security of our elections is sound.
