Kenneth Chesebro, an architect of Donald Trump’s bid to subvert the 2020 election, has had his law license suspended in New York.
A five-judge panel from a state appeals court ruled Thursday that Chesebro’s guilty plea in Georgia last year merited the indefinite punishment. In the Georgia plea, Chesebro admitted to filing false documents during Trump’s bid to overturn his loss in that state.
Chesebro is the latest lawyer involved in Trump’s 2020 scheme to face professional sanctions. The list also includes:
— John Eastman, a driver of Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021 strategy to overturn the election results, whose law license was suspended in California while he fights a recommendation for his permanent disbarment.
— Rudy Giuliani, who helped Trump pressure state legislatures to overturn the election and was disbarred in New York and Washington, D.C., for his role in the effort.
— Jenna Ellis, whose Colorado law license was suspended for three years after her own guilty plea in Georgia.
Several other lawyers connected to Trump’s 2020 effort, including former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark, are fighting disciplinary charges that could result in suspensions or disbarment.
