When Kamala Harris talks about the Sandwich Generation, in a way, she could be talking about Marla Maples: a Trump ex-wife who cheated with him on one wife, only to be cheated on herself.
On Saturday, Maples — who has kept a low profile politically — reacted to a tweet by Twitter owner, conspiracy theorist, instigator and Vladimir Putin’s secret bestie, Elon Musk, who accused Harris and the Democrats of putting Trump’s life in danger by calling him what he is, a fascist.
“This is my daughter’s father and they are spreading such horrific lies about him and they keep getting worse,” Maples tweeted. “Our daughter Tiffany grew up learning not only to pray as a Christian but also in Hebrew and Aramaic (Christ’s language) Please vote for those who give their heart and risk their lives for all Americans.”
In case you aren’t sure whom she meant, she tagged Trump and Robert Kennedy Jr. Maybe she simply didn’t have enough characters left for JD Vance.
The reaction was swift and devastating. While MAGA followers thanked her for her support, arguing it showed class coming from a former wife, many others called her out for hypocrisy, noting that her daughter’s father is an adjudicated rapist with many credible sexual assault allegations, 34 convictions and the leader of an insurrection:
— “You’re dramatically out of touch with this nature of this man who cheated on you. Do you really not hear the hatred he spews every single day? The cruelty and vulgarity and disrespect?”
— “He cheated on Ivana with you. So there’s that.”
— “Maybe you and your daughter can teach him about Jesus.”
— “The mistress and home wrecker weighs in. Ivana Trump would beg to differ ... take a seat.”
— “He cheated on you and neglected his daughter.”
— “Your religious beliefs and support for Trump has you aligned with nazis, and white supremacists. Why is that?”
— “I pray for his downfall from politics and his eventual stint in jail for breaking the laws of the land.”
Maples is Trump’s second wife. They married in December 1993, two months after Tiffany’s birth, separated in 1997 and divorced in 1999.
