TEMPE, AZ (AZFamily) — Authorities have identified the man who they say was behind the bags of white powder left at multiple locations in Ahwatukee on Tuesday and recent shootings targeting Tempe Democratic offices.

The suspect was identified overnight as 60-year-old Jeffrey Michael Kelly.

Kelly faces several charges, listed below, related to both crimes.

2 counts- Unlawful discharge (class 6 felony)

2 counts- Shooting at a non-residential structure (class 3 felony)

3 counts- Terrorism Act (class 2 felony)

3 counts- Criminal Damage (class 1 misdemeanor)

Exclusive video from Arizona’s Family shows Kelly being taken into custody by Tempe Police:

The unknown powder attached to political signs caused several intersections to be closed in Ahwatukee on Tuesday. The locations included Chandler Boulevard near 44th Street and 35th Street, as well as Ray Road and 50th Street.

Phoenix police later said the signs were also lined with razor blades. The signs had messages referring to the Democratic Party and presidential candidate VP Kamala Harris.

There were no reports of any injuries, and we’re still waiting to hear what the substance was.

In Tempe, police said the same suspect shot at the Democratic National Committee field office near Southern Avenue and Priest Drive three times, with the latest shooting on Oct. 6. The other two were on Sept. 16 and Sept. 23.

Police say the suspect fired BB pellets and gunshots at the office.

No one was inside the building at the time, and the Democratic Party eventually closed down the field office.

Tempe Police expect to hold a press conference Wednesday afternoon about Kelly‘s arrest. Arizona’s Family will stream that press conference live when it happens.
