A disturbance in the far eastern Atlantic now has a medium chance for development over the next 7 days.
For now, this disturbance is just a swirl of low pressure. It doesn't even have shower and thunderstorm activity associated with it, as it has been in an environment with high wind shear and dry air. This has caused it to fall apart in the last day or two.
The reason this spot is highlighted is because as it moves westward to west-southwestward across the Atlantic, environmental conditions could become more favorable for additional development by the mid to latter part of this week as it moves into the Caribbean Sea.
The fact that it is mid-October, and we are really starting to transition into the fall season, this is the time of year cold fronts play a big role in our weather. There is a chance that this could get swept away by a frontal system if the timing is right, pushing it away from the U.S.
