As winds from Hurricane Milton began to dwindle by 4 a.m. Thursday, aerial imagery of Tropicana Field in downtown St. Petersburg revealed the baseball diamond was littered with debris after the ballpark’s roof was ripped to shreds during the major hurricane.
Inside, the stadium was still set with hundreds of beds meant to be for first responders.
Home of the Tampa Bay Rays, the downtown St. Petersburg facility was supposed to be a post-landfall response hub in the wake of Hurricane Milton.
