Vice president Kamala Harris continued her media blitz on Tuesday by appearing on ABC’s The View , being interviewed at length on Howard Stern’s radio show, and guesting on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The attention seems to be paying off. The Democrat has taken a three-point lead in the latest New York Times/ Siena College national poll — the first time she has pulled ahead of Donald Trump in that survey.
One of Harris’s recent appearances, on the Call Her Daddy podcast, led to a mini-scandal for Republican senator John Kennedy, who was pilloried online for a comment about the interview which also suggested tampons are luxuries.
Meanwhile, former president Trump reportedly sent Vladimir Putin Covid-19 test kits at the height of the pandemic, according to a new book by veteran Watergate journalist Bob Woodward.
Elsewhere on the political front, federal officials say they’ve foiled an ISIS-inspired Election Day threat.
And finally, Melania Trump marked the release of her memoir with a rare live interview on The Five on Fox News, shortly after her husband attacked the network on Truth Social.

Trump’s war on ‘60 Minutes’ continues
Donald Trump is reportedly demanding 60 Minutes release an “unedited” transcript of its recent interview with Kamala Harris.
The former president has been fueding with the mainstay news program, after he reportedly dropped out of a planned election special interview because producers planned to fact-check his claims.
The Trump campaign, for its part, has claimed it never confirmed the interview, and Donald Trump has said he took issue with the questions from a 2020 interview he had on the show.
For more details, here’s Io Dodds’s recent piece on the matter.

Trump falsely takes full credit for ‘$35 insulin’
In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Donald Trump falsley claimed Kamala Harris is lying about helping secure low-cost insulin for seniors.
“I was the one who got the $35 Insulin, not Lyin’ Kamala,” Trump wrote. “I’ve never seen a group that lies so much.”
As the KFF health thinktank notes in a recent fact-check, both the Trump and Biden administration extended cost-protections on insulin for seniors using Medicare, with a more wide-reaching version of the initiative taking place under the current administration.

Feds foil alleged Election Day attack
Federal prosecutors have accused a 27-year-old Afghan citizen of conspiring with ISIS and stockpiling weapons to launch an Election Day attack in the US.
Nasir Ahmad Tawhedi of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was allegedly planning to liquidate his family’s assets and sell his family’s home, resettle family members overseas, and buy up AK-47 rifles and ammunition “to stage a violent attack in the United States in the name of and on behalf of ISIS,” according to court documents unsealed on Tuesday.
According to a criminal complaint, Tawhedi and a co-conspirator, who is a minor, met with an FBI informant in Oklahoma to buy two AK-47s, 10 magazines and 500 rounds of ammunition.

Republican senator slammed for implying tampons are a luxury
A Republican Senator from Louisiana ranted about Kamala Harris’s recent Call Her Daddy podcast appearance and in doing so insinuated that tampons are a luxury, and are not needed by Hurricane Helene victims.
Senator John Kennedy voiced his opinion on the necessity of women’s sanitary products during an appearance on Sean Hannity’s Fox News show on Monday. He was responding to Harris’s appearance on Alex Cooper’s mega-popular podcast over the weekend.
“The Vice President goes on some show called Call Her Daddy or Call Your Daddy or Who’s Your Daddy or something — Call Me Daddy, I like Who’s Your Daddy better — and among other things, she’s talking about tampons,” the senator said.
Call Her Daddy is the second most popular podcast on Spotify, boasting millions of listeners and second only to the Joe Rogan Experience. It’s unclear why the senator appeared surprised that women’s health was a topic of conversation between two women on a podcast whose audience is largely women.
Graig Graziosi has the story.

As Hurricane Milton bears down on the U.S, Florida governor Ron DeSantis has accused Kamala Harris of politicizing storm preparations, after the vice president called the Republican “selfish” for reportedly ignoring her calls.
“We’ve been on emergency footing around the clock, two weeks straight,” DeSantis told Fox News on Tuesday. “That’s been my sole focus. My focus has not been on dealing with Kamala Harris. I saw the news report. I didn’t know she tried to contact me. It’s not about you, Kamala. It’s about the people of Florida.”
