WATCH: Drone footage shows historic flooding, Helene aftermath in Asheville

Drone footage shows some of the flood damage around Asheville, North Carolina, Saturday, Sept. 28.

Helene blew through Western North Carolina on Friday, one day after the area saw massive rainfall totals from another storm system. Torrential rain and high winds downed trees and powerlines and swelled rivers and lakes to historic levels.

Areas like Biltmore Village and Riverside Drive were underwater on Friday after the French Broad and Swannanoa rivers spilled over their banks.

Gov. Roy Cooper confirmed Saturday, Sept. 28, that 10 North Carolinians have died and hundreds of others needed rescue due to weather impacts.During a Saturday news briefing, Buncombe County government officials would only confirm the county saw "multiple fatalities" due to the storm.
