LIVE UPDATES: Much of WNC left in the dark, as outages continue the day after Helene

Much of Western North Carolina was left in the dark on Sept. 28, the morning after Hurricane Helene swept through the region causing widespread power, internet and cell phone outages.

The storm followed another powerful system that dumped several inches of rain and caused flash flooding on Sept. 26. Helene's heavy rains and hurricane-force winds brought down trees on power lines and left many stranded in their homes in the flood waters.

The City of Asheville enforced a curfew on Sept. 27 of 7:30 p.m. which wasn't lifted until 7:30 a.m. Sept. 28.

Henderson County was also hit hard by the hurricane. Chief Communications Officer Mike Morgan told News 13 that power was out everywhere on Saturday morning.
