Donald Trump on Thursday announced he would meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday morning at Trump Tower in New York. Friday’s meeting between Trump and Zelensky is the first since the former president was impeached in 2019 over allegations that he threatened to withhold aid to Ukraine until the country announced investigations into Trump’s political rivals. The Republican nominee’s announcement, which came during remarks to reporters, followed Zelensky’s events at the White House Thursday with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. During a campaign event Wednesday in North Carolina, Trump criticized Zelensky as “a man who refuses to make a deal” to end the war waged on his country by Russia.
